tour de colorado

So what’s so great about living in a place where people actually want to come visit you? People come to visit you. Ive lived here only 2 months and Ive seen my Dad, sister, and Hash in that time span. Hash loves LeBron, he also loves me, not sure which is more, but nonetheless, he coupled his trip with a LeBron visit; Ill take it.

Thursday

Hash touches down and lays down with a girl…..well that’s what happened.

Friday

I go to work and he hangs out with said girl…….well that’s what happened.

Friday Night,

Ahh okay now our adventure begins. Get off and drive to Denver. Pick him and head to the Pepsi Centre. Stand in line, not sure if there are more Nuggets jerseys or LBJ jerseys. I think all of the brothers had on Heat apparel. We got in and roamed around the arena, it was very nice. We walked and talked and talked and walked. Finally deciding on some BBQ. I had a simple messy beef sandwich. Hash had a complicated messy BBQ nacho concoction. It was a tasty mess. Had our first of several Coors Light, what else does one drink in CO?? Our seats were nose bleed, but if you have ever been to an NBA game the seats are usually at such a steep angle that you still have good seats. The opening was pretty good. Cartman showed up on the jumbotron, started the Lets go Nuggets chant, but then he summoned the Nuggets power and turned into a old timey prospector, chops and pick axe; very cool. We chilled for awhile, but then more and more people showed up and I had to give up the seat my coat was occupying. Then some Asians showed up and took the seats that my legs and shoes were occupying. The Asians, being Asians, texted and talked during the event. After halftime they took off and so I could whip out my 40 inch legs from their prison which is the nosebleed. The game was really good, some Italian on the team named Triple A for like Aaron alfalfa or something dropped about 45 3 pointers, it was pretty sweet. Watched Lebron, who I have to say has an amazing short/long range jumper, cant drive or shoot 3’s, but watch out from 10-14 feet. The nuggets ended up losing, which was a bummer for Hash. I got a cool picture of me next to the Birdman. I could be a birdman. It was almost 11 when we got out of there and headed back to Boulder. We jammed out to African Americans in the Capital of France. We got to Boulder a little before Midnight and Hash was down to go to some bars. So…we googled bars. I haven’t been to too may bars here. We went to the World Famous Dark Horse, we forgot to check in, but some drunk chick kicked the door in my face. This bar has props and paraphernalia all over the place, it was a pretty chill, Id go back. Hash and I both went into the wrong bathroom. When I was in there I thought it was odd that there were no urinals but figured a toilet is a toilet. Hash went and asked did you go on the right or the left. I said right, that’s where the picture of the guy was. He said, Yeah, but guy was pointing to the left. Hmmmm, well now that you mention it, there were only stalls. He said, Yeah, I peed and got out of there as quick as possible. Then we cheered to the Dark Horse for being untamed. Went home and went to bed.

Saturday

Woke and was thirsty, got too little sleep. Then we began checking in like it was no tomorrow. We went to Egg and I and had some eggs. Then we came back and showered, watched some ESPN on XBOX, then went to Golden. We went to place that all Eggemeyers, Dude Patrol members, International Stud Brigade, Mountain Men, and Coors Light Ski Team members must go to……….DAS COORS BREWEREI!!!!! We rolled in through the city itself and when we came upon downtown we saw it. We saw it in all its glorious industrial complex socialism grey. It was the largest grey building Ive ever seen, with smokestacks and chain link fences. Nobody goes in and nobody comes out. The tour was pretty lame, since it was audio, but still cool and they have a beer station half way through, because, well after 20 minutes of walking, youre going to need a beer. We walked through most of the factory but a lot of it was shutdown, not much action on a Saturday. Then we got to the tasting room, and I have to commend Coors for giving 3 full beer. And AND they have cold Coors Light and Super Cold Coors light. One comes out at about 38 and the other 28, 28 is way better. After we got out of there we went back home and watched some David Cross, I took a nap, because Jakey Wakey needs his sleep. Then we went for a stroll around Pearl Street, ignored the pleas of Green Peace and then headed to Walnut Brewery to watch the game. I didn’t root hard enough for Tebow because they lost, but I did eat some tasty southwest eggrolls, nasty jalapeno dip, and pretty good wings. Then we went to Illegal Petes and had some tasty tasty burritos. Then we went to the Lazy Dog and had some more Coors Light. Then we called it a night early, about 11 or so.

Sunday

Woke up and cooked hash breakfast in bed. He slept on the couch and he ate on the couch. I made eggs and bacon. We ate a shit ton of bacon too, but bacon on the George Foreman just tastes good; you just cant have 5. Then we watched Limitless, Hash enjoyed, it was good, good dialogue. Then we showered and went to Longmont to head to the Oskar Blues Brewery and had some more checkins. This tour was much more hands on, but no free beer. Our tour guide was cool, knew her facts about beer, let us taste different barley. Then we headed back to my place, watched a documentary about beer. Then THen THEn THEN headed for the greatest check in of our life. CAcacacaSa Bonita!!! Every aspect of this place was glorious and I never need to or want to do it again. The line to order was fun. They had old time Mexican movie posters. We got a discount for checking in, the check in paid for our margaritas or at least one. You basically order the chicken or beef and its all you can eat, not that you need to eat too much of this stuff, but you have the option. I did get seconds on the tacos, the chips were okay, and so were the sopapillas. We had seats that were actually pretty good, we got to see all of the action. The cliff divers, the gorilla trainer show, the black bart show. We went through Black Barts cave, it was scary as Eric Cartman predicted. The arcade, the mariachis, the puppet show, the caricatures, and it’s a huge place too. We walked through many many of the closed seating sections. I mean there are so many seats where you cant see anything. I cant imagine eating in one these seats where you cant see anything and I cant imagine the place ever this crowded. But I guess on a Sunday night its not as busy. What is odd was the amount of couples there. I mean if you are there and you have kids, fine. If you are like us, young, doing dumb stuff and playing out South Park fantasies, fine. But I cant see how anyone would say, Hey, babe, lets go out to dinner. Okay. Where should we go? I don’t know, what do you feel like? Mmm, BBQ, nah, Chinese, nah, Mexican, yeah okay, where….Casa Bonita, yeah. Barf, Im sure, Im certain there are way better Mexican food restaurants in the greater Denver area. Had our fill of fun and drove back to Boulder. Chilled for a little bit and headed to bed since I wasn’t off Monday.

Monday

Got up ant O’dark thirty and headed to the airport. Since it was a holiday the roadways were empty, which was nice, I made it to the airport in about 40 minutes.

Happy to have Hash, it was a fun visit and look forward to him coming back again.

Adieu,

Jake
